Mars has always fascinated us. It's difficult to explain why but there it is, lonely, deserted, mysterious. One of the best Sci-Fi books I ever read has to do with it: Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson. There I found the inspiration for this piece that has been in my mind for a long time.
I used Vue Esprit to render the sky. Then I modified and textured it in Photoshop so it will blend with the hand-painted elements. All the rest was done in Photoshop. The desert sand was based on a photo I took of a folded paper. Comments are welcome!
